Lenvakast 10 mg (Lenvatinib)

Lenvakast 10 mg (Lenvatinib) is a prescription anti-cancer agent specifically indicated against Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer (DTC). For kidney cancer (RCC), everolimus is used in combination with Lenvakast 10 mg to attain a sustainable efficacy. Whereas for thyroid cancer, Lenvakast 10 mg is favoured, if cancer cannot be removed by surgical operation.

Lenvakast 10 mg is taken orally with or without food. Preferably, it should be consumed at the same time each day. For kidney cancer (RCC), 18 mg (1 tablet of 10 mg and 2 tablets of 4 mg) is taken along with 5 mg (1 tablet) everolimus. While, for thyroid cancer (DTC), 24 mg (1 tablet of 4 mg and 2 tablets of 10 mg) is an ideal regimen.

In certain cases, due to the advent of severe side-effects or complications in the kidney or liver, the dosage could be reduced for the safety of the patients. The table below shows the recommended dosage reductions for Lenvakast 10 mg (Lenvatinib) in such conditions.

When should Lenvakast 10 mg be avoided or taken cautiously?

• •  Atypical connections between two sections of the gastrointestinal tract (Fistula) with abdominal pain

• •  Low levels of calcium in the blood (Hypocalcemia)

• •  Problems in healing the wounds

• •  Increased amounts of protein in the urine (Proteinuria)

• •  Severe bleeding through different forms including stools, urine, or cough and regions such as nose and vagina

• •  High blood pressure (Hypertension)

• •  History of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, or changes in vision

• •  Heart problems

• •  Kidney or liver complications with symptoms like jaundice, irregular bowel movements like dark-coloured urine or light-coloured stools, dizziness, and confusion

• •  High blood pressure (Hypertension)

• •  Heart problems with symptoms like shortness of breath (dyspnea) and swelling in the ankles

• •  History of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, or changes in vision with symptoms like severe chest pain, pain in the neck, back, or jaw, sudden events of headache or blurred vision, shortness of breath and numbness on the one side of the body

• •  Tear in the stomach or intestines (Perforation) with abdominal pain

• •  Reversible Posterior Leukoencephalopathy Syndrome (RPLS) with symptoms like severe headache, seizures, weakness, confusion or blindness
